Arrival - New York

We went to New York on a Qantas 747-400. The trip took 4.5 hours. I booked accommodation on line at LA airport whilst we were waiting for our flight to New York. Arriving at New York and finally locating our accommodation in 94th Street, Manhattan, the guy at the reception couldn’t find our booking. That was a bit frustrating considering that we had nowhere to stay, luckily he suggested another place along the street a bit and we managed to get a room there for a couple of nights, It was a bit more expensive however. New York was freezing cold. That night we went walking the streets of Manhattan, dinner in an Italian restaurant with live jazz playing. After dinner more walking the streets. We walked for hours and into the early hours of the morning, the city never seems to sleep and there was activity everywhere. Shops, Diners, Cafes all open for trade, and with no shortage of patrons. That night we visited Times Square, Avenue of the Americas. We found a diner/bakehouse that specialised in cheesecakes and pies. They claimed to make the best cheesecake in New York City – I think their claims are founded; it was the most divine cheesecake I have ever tasted.
